The Neosho-Newton County Library is entering an exciting phase in its 139-year history. A $1.8 million expansion to the existing facility has been completed!

We are especially proud that the expansion was completed without asking for a tax increase or bond issue from our Newton County taxpayers. We conducted a sale of certificates of participation and raised the entire $1.8 million, with many local banks and businesses purchasing the certificates. Additionally, due to conservative stewardship of the public funds afforded to the library over the past several years, some three-quarters of a million dollars have been saved to put toward the expansion. The $750,000 already bookmarked for the project will allow us to pay back the first several years of principal and interest on the certificates. In the meantime, we have begun a $1 million fundraising project with the goal of raising enough money to repay the certificates early.
